Scope
Welcomes guests to the restaurant and provides fast and courteous service to ensure an enjoyable dining experience and repeat business.
Primary responsibilities
Greets guests in a prompt and courteous manner; seats guests ensuring a balanced workload among servers.
Ensures guests are comfortable in their seats and arranges for appropriate adaptations such as high chairs, wheel chair seating, etc.
Assists Manager or Supervisor with opening tasks such as assigning stations to servers for meal periods and retrieving daily specials.
Processes take-out orders; may answer room service phone and process room service orders; practices suggestive selling techniques.
Receives customer payment from servers and processes transactions on cash register as outlined in the cash and charge procedures; gives correct change; balances cash drawer at close of shift
Completes all opening/closing paperwork and documents voids on void balance sheet.
May assist bussers in clearing, cleaning and setting tables.
Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
Follows company policies and procedures.

Management Staff: To alert of service challenges
Front Desk: To ensure posting of food and beverage charges to room folio.
External:
Guests and Visitors: To provide services
Qualifications
Education/Experience: Basic reading, writing and math. Six months cash handling experience, is preferred.
Certification and/or License Requirement: Alcohol awareness certification may be required.

Working Conditions:
Will be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Will be required to work in fast paced environment.

The vast majority of time is spent greeting and seating guests, which is typically done while standing up and walking.
Communication skills are used a significant amount of the time when interacting with guests of the restaurant or restaurant staff.
Carrying and lifting items (i.e. plates, utensils, menus) occurs frequently.
Reading and writing abilities are utilized frequently when taking orders over the phone, or when completing paperwork.
Reasoning, problem solving and organizational abilities are used often.
Basic mathematical skills are used when completing customer payment transactions and balance sheets.
