Description
Responsible for providing technical field assistance associated with the site erection of the steam turbine (s), electrical generator and all the steam turbine and generator auxiliary equipment.
Functions as the communication liaison between the installing contractor, the auxiliary equipment supplier engineering groups for prompt resolution to installation, startup and operating issues.
Makes periodic audits of Site Mechanical Erection contractors engineering documents to assure that they are working with the most current drawings and specifications.
Assures that anchor bolts, sole plates and other embedments in the power block foundation are located in accordance with equipment manufacturer drawings and specs as well as the A/E drawings and specs for the foundation.
Witnesses and partakes in the initial roll of the steam turbine to assure accurate and precise alignments have been accomplished.
Confirms that Site Mechanical Erection Contractor performs the following activities in accordance with the current and applicable drawings and specifications:
Storage and preservation of steam turbine, electrical generator and all auxiliaries.
Installation of non-shrink grout between foundation and bottom of the equipment that meets with the foundation.
Installation of field run piping flanged or butt weld connections to the steam turbine or generator so as not to transfer any stresses at the connection to the factory installed flanges or nozzles of the steam turbine or generator.
Assures that the installing contractor has a written erection plan that has been submitted to Siemens and approved by Siemens for the erection of heavy equipment that will be placed on the power block or auxiliary power block equipment foundations.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience with KN or HE steam turbines will be a real plus.
