CDI ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS IS LOOKING FOR A SITE MECHANICAL ENGINEER TO JOIN OUR TEAM.

Reports to: Site Manager


Tasks:
Responsible for providing technical field assistance associated with the site erection of the following mechanical systems associated with a simple cycle or combined cycle power station:

Fuel Gas and/or Fuel Oil from source or storage facility to connections at gas turbine envelope.

Cooling Water from source to connections at power block equipment envelope.

Plant Fire Protection system from and including Fire Water Storage Tanks to equipment spray nozzle connections or to yard hydrants, etc.

Plant Equipment Drains from equipment connections to the connection at the plant effluent system.

Equipment Vents from equipment connection, including safety/relief valves, to atmosphere.

Gas Turbine Exhaust Stack.

HVAC System for site buildings.

Compressed Gas Bottle System from cylinders to power block equipment envelope.

Steam System from HRSG discharge connections to steam turbine steam inlet connections.

Condensate System from steam turbine and HRSG connections to and including condenser, condensate pumps, condensate storage tank, feedwater heaters, deaerator etc.

HRSG Blowdown System including blowdown tank system.

Boiler Feedwater System including water treatment systems, boiler feedwater pumps, etc.

Circulating Water System including cooling towers, storage tanks, pumps, etc.

Systems are applicable to combined cycle plants only.

Functions as the communication liaison between the installing contractor, engineering groups, manufacturing engineering groups, the auxiliary equipment supplier engineering groups and the Architect Engineer for prompt resolution to installation, startup and initial operation issues.

Understands and initiates Field Action Request form (FAR) and Field Deficiency Request form (FDR) on a regular basis.

Makes periodic audits of Site Mechanical Erection contractors engineering documents to assure that they are working with the most current drawings and specifications.

Assures that prior to the installation of equipment on their concrete foundations, that the testing laboratory 7, 14, & 28 day break tests on the concrete samples indicate that the concrete is up to specified strength and that the required curing time has elapsed so that the concrete is adequate for the placement of equipment loads.

Maintains a detailed log on the dimensions associated with the critical alignment of equipment such as the alignment of the motor shaft of a boiler feed pump to the mating shaft of the pump.

Assures that anchor bolts and embedments in the equipment foundations are located in accordance with equipment manufacturer drawings and specs as well as the A/E drawings and specs for the foundation.

Confirms that Site Mechanical Erection Contractor performs the following activities in accordance with the current and applicable drawings and specifications:
Storage and preservation of all mechanical equipment.

Installation of specified grout material between foundation and bottom of the equipment that meets with the foundation.

Proper installation of field run piping flanged or butt weld connections to the mating connection on the equipment so as not to transfer any unallowable stresses to the factory installed flanges or nozzles of the equipment.

Assures that site installed insulation and lagging have been purchased and installed in accordance with the applicable project specifications.

Assures that site painting has been performed in accordance with applicable project specifications.

Site Manager, Site Civil Engineer, Site Gas Turbine Mechanical Engineer, Site Electrical Engineer, Site Safety Engineer, Site Quality Engineer, Site Materials Control Manager, Site Surveyor, Site Planner, Project Manager, Project Engineering Manager, Site Mechanical Erection Contractor and Equipment Vendor Engineers.


Education Requirements:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
