Scope
Provide support to the Director of Sales & Marketing and the Director of Revenue in the areas of marketing and internet research. Research and generate leads for group sales.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manages and maintains the following:

  • Update and oversight of Internet sites including accurate loading of hotel information, hotel placement, competitive analysis, trends and recommendations
  • Blog travel sites i.e. Trip Advisor
  • Collateral program including monitoring inventory, recommending changes for reprinting, etc.
  • Electronic marketing efforts-work closely with Cendyn on email blasts to include making sure that databases are current, coordinate blasts between Whitson and Cendyn, etc.
  • Logos, photography digital library
  • Group commissions
    Lead generation via internet research
    Reports
  • Work with the DOSM on the running and the completion of month end reports
  • Review Cendyn reports including Analytics and provide an analysis and recommendations
  • Review Hotelligence reports and provide an analysis and recommendations
    Coordinate all marketing efforts with outside vendors
    Budget/Expense Management-responsibility for the Sales checkbook to include making sure monies are spent and invoices are received. (10%)
    Perform special project and other responsibilities as assigned.

    SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    Ability to work both independently and as a team.
    Ability to manage multiple projects, meet and work effectively under time and resource constraints.
    Ability to effectively utilize the internet and sales systems to support research, marketing and sales solicitation efforts.
    Ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information in the sales/marketing field and make logical conclusions and recommendations.
    Knowledge of Delphi is preferred.

    Maintains a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
    Follows company policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to subordinates.

    Relationships
    Internal:
    All hotel departments: To communicate client expectations.
    Reservations: To confirm guestroom availability.
    National and Regional Sales: Share leads and account and client information.
    External:
    Guests: To provide service.

    A majority of time will be spent selling and negotiating hotel guestrooms and banquet facility and services, therefore a significant portion of time is spent speaking, listening, thinking, and writing.
    A majority of time is spent conducting outside sales, therefore a significant amount of time is spent communicating and interacting with various people inside and outside of the hotel. This person will be listening and speaking to guests and staff, making quick decisions and using problem-solving skills.
    Reading and writing abilities are often used when communicating with the hotel outlets and outside contacts when planning services, as well as to document any sales related activity.
    A portion of time is spent moving about the property while conducting tours or meeting with other hotel departments.
    Some travel is necessary in order to meet potential clients and to attend conventions and trade shows.
    Mathematical skills, including basic math, problem solving, reasoning, negotiating, profit/loss concepts, variances and percentages are often used.
    This person will occasionally assist in breaking down or setting up of banquet space, or assist in food service, requiring lifting of up to 50 pounds.
